Kenneth Mortimer

Kenneth Mortimer has been involved with manual and electronic business processes since the early 1980s in the field of international banking using the SWIFT and Telex global networks.

Through to the present, he has led or been a member of ten electronic commerce assignments. Half of these have occurred since 1996 when he developed the eCommerce strategy within the wider IT&T strategy for the Inland Revenue Department of New Zealand.

From 1996 Kenneth saw that eCommerce was developing not only on the technology front, but with greater stealth as a means by which enterprises and indeed societies might be transformed. To that end, towards the end of 1999, Kenneth assisted Professor Howard Frederick to devise a strategy for SMEs in the capital city of New Zealand, Wellington, to work through a multi-faceted Internet Enterprise portal for local, national and global trading - Absolutely Stylishly Wellington.

This followed his work as the architect of the eBrisbane strategy for the Brisbane City Council. He has just completed the managing, mentoring, and the facilitating of the development of the eCommerce strategy for Queensland Rail as well as developing business opportunities with the IT&T and local government sector of Queensland.

He has completed an online payments project at Ergon Energy, developed a multi-million dollar business case for the Hornsby Shire Council in North Sydney and undertaken a comprehensive business process re-engineering mapping project for Beeline Technologies.

Most recently he has completed a review of the finance processes of the "whole of government" approach of the Queensland Government.

To maintain currency in the fast evolving world of electronic commerce, in 1999 Kenneth completed a Graduate Certificate in Electronic Commerce, focusing on EC business drivers & technologies, change management & business analysis, virtual communities and collaboration, and supply chain & e-procurement.

He is a guest lecturer in E-Business and Process Management at the University of Queensland Business School.

Kenneth is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.
